From the recording Another Regret
It grabs you fast, stays with you, and has something real in it — not forced, not overworked, just a song that lands.
Written by Eliyanah and her brother Simon in a small West London studio, it’s bright and hook-led, but there’s weight underneath it. The bass has that little drive to it, the drums give it lift, and then the chorus hits like that stupid, brilliant feeling when you know you’re getting pulled into something you probably won’t be able to control. Eliyanah’s vocal keeps it intimate; she sounds right inside the feeling, not just singing about it.
That’s what makes the track special. It has the shine of a summer record, but the ache of a memory.
Lyrics
Days go by and I don’t wanna leave
My heart flies it’s like I’m caught in a dream
Got the world on a string
Red sky drives, open window views
Your hand in mine and I don’t want to go home
I just want you to know
I don’t wanna be the one who comes on far too strong that you leave too soon
But what can I do
I can’t forget the night that we met
Dancing all night in your arms and now I’m everything that you want
Don’t wanna pretend but I don’t wanna rush in
So, say you’ll never leave don’t break me like a promise
I don’t wanna be, baby just another regret
You hide inside how you really feel
You hold on tight to the words you can’t say
Hoping one day you’d change
So, say that you won’t wait
I miss you in the worst way
Don’t look back it’s too late
I need you here tonight
I can’t forget the night that we met
Dancing all night in your arms and now I’m everything that you want
Don’t wanna pretend but I don’t wanna rush in
So, say you’ll never leave don’t break me like a promise
I don’t wanna be, baby just another regret
